Tim Sherwood demand for Mikey Moore may not be good news for Rangers

Danny Rohl certainly won’t want to lose Mikey Moore at Rangers in the upcoming transfer window.

The 18-year-old joined the Gers on a season-long loan from Tottenham last summer and has become an influential player for the Govan side.

There have been talks of the Ibrox hierarchy extending Moore’s stay at the end of the campaign, with a sell-on clause and first right of refusal reportedly being discussed with Spurs to get a deal over the line for the young forward.

The Englishman is clearly enjoying his time at the Glaswegian outfit, but the North London outfit may be reluctant to let go of one of their valuable prospects.

Tottenham would be better with Mikey Moore return from Rangers

Tim Sherwood wants Tottenham to bring Moore back to the club and give him regular opportunities.

While the former Spurs boss believes the Gers have provided the youngster with a good development pathway at Ibrox, he’s needed at the North London outfit.

Tottenham have lacked the cutting edge up front in the current campaign, and Thomas Frank, and now Igor Tudor, have had to deal with a growing list of injuries in N17.

Speaking on No Tippy Tappy Football on 4 March, Sherwood said, “They loaned him out because there’s no pathway for him. I think it’s a great pathway there for him to gain some experience. No one fancied him at the moment, and they would probably argue and say, ‘We’ll let him gain experience’.”

The ex-England international added, “I would argue that he’s better than what you’ve got, so bring him back and let him play games. Not only would he be better than some of the players that they’ve signed and are in the squad, but you’re also having a shocking injury crisis.”

The Glaswegian outfit would do well to keep hold of Moore for the 2026-27 campaign, but Sherwood’s demand from Spurs may not be good news for them.

Danny Rohl has one advantage to convince Mikey Moore to stay at Ibrox

Tottenham are going through one of their worst spells in recent history as they fight a relegation battle in the Premier League.

Moore broke into the North London outfit’s first-team setup last season, but his minutes were limited under Ange Postecoglou.

Rohl can promise the English attacker guaranteed minutes at Rangers and also the prospect of winning silverware so early in his career.

Spurs won the Europa League last season, but they look nowhere near good enough to challenge for titles right now, and the Glaswegian outfit should use this moment under the German manager to secure Moore’s future in G51.
