‘Oh wow’ – Scott Arfield grimaces at John Souttar footage in Rangers v Celtic

Scott Arfield was left concerned by a John Souttar challenge during the first half of Rangers’ 2-2 draw with Celtic at Ibrox.
Both teams were desperate for all three points going into the game after Hearts beat Aberdeen 1-0 on Saturday to move further clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
Youssef Chermiti opened the scoring in the Old Firm with a ridiculous overhead kick, directing Andreas Skov Olsen’s strike past Viljami Sinisalo.
Chermiti then added a second, capitalising on a mistake by Dane Murray to put the Rangers fans into dreamland.
It was a completely different second half, though, Kieran Tierney halving the deficit before Reo Hatate scored a dramatic equaliser, converting the rebound after his penalty was saved by Jack Butland.
John Souttar crashes into Junior Adamu
Rangers raced out of the blocks at Ibrox, and Celtic simply could not live with them in the opening half hour.
Danny Rohl’s side found the back of the net twice in that time, and it could’ve been even more, with a clear gulf between the two sides.
As if to cement their dominance, Gers defender Souttar went crashing into Junior Adamu just after the second goal went in, leaving the Austrian in a heap on the floor.
The centre-back escaped without a yellow card, despite his knee seeming to catch the Celtic man in the chest.
Speaking live on Sky Sports Main Event, former Rangers man Arfield reacted to the challenge, wincing at the impact of the collision.
He said: “I think it might be the knee. Oh, wow – he takes a heavy blow, but he’s back up now.”
Danny Rohl has changed the feeling around Ibrox
Souttar’s challenge proves that Rohl has been able to instil a nasty streak into his Rangers side, something that all top teams need.
Under Russell Martin, the Glasgow outfit were not only woeful on the ball, but they also lacked the physicality to really impose themselves on matches.

It has been a different story since Rohl came in, and he has added so much to the squad.
Rangers clearly have the tools they need to go on and win the Scottish Premiership, but as shown by their collapse against Celtic, they may just fall short.
