Hugo Bueno to Newcastle? Wolves Exit Nears as Recruitment Expert Reveals Agent Talks

Newcastle United’s interest in a potential deal for Wolves star Hugo Bueno comes after they were approached by his agent over the possibility.

The 23-year-old is already eyeing a move away from Molineux ahead of their impending relegation, and his representatives have approached multiple clubs.

Bueno is not interested in playing Championship football with Wolves, who took another step towards relegation after their 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that the left-back is keen to remain in the Premier League and his agent is working to find him a club.

Newcastle have shown an early interest in Bueno’s situation given their current defensive crisis, with new additions at the back expected to be a priority this summer.

Newcastle plot move to sign Hugo Bueno

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 21 February that Newcastle have a concrete interest in Bueno, who could provide cover and competition for Lewis Hall.

The Magpies are keen to strengthen their defensive options in the summer, and the Wolves left-back’s availability could make him a target.

“Bueno is clearly looking to move on from Wolves,” Brown told Football Insider.

“Newcastle are the club being spoken about in connection with him at the moment.

“I think his agent has been in contact and they’ve spoken to him about a deal, rather than them approaching him or Bueno being a player at the top of their list.

“They’ve been made aware that he will be available, he doesn’t want to play in the Championship and his agent is now working to find him a club.

“For Newcastle, they need a left-back so on that basis he might be an option for them.

“As I say, I don’t think he’s necessarily been somebody they’re looking at but he is going to be available and now he’s been placed on their radar.

“I am a little bit sceptical about it. There’s no doubt teams will be looking at Wolves, assessing who their better players are and who might be available.

“When those players are highlighted, there can be discussions about the next steps, but I have doubts about where that interest comes from and who is driving it.”

Liverpool and Man United join race to sign Mateus Mane

Bueno is not the only player eyeing a move away from Wolves ahead of their potential relegation, with a number of key players being eyed for big-money deals.

Brown told Football Insider on 25 February that Liverpool and Man United want Mateus Mane, and scouts have been keeping a close eye on his performances.

Mane has established himself as an important part of Edwards’ starting XI despite his tender age, and is showing he would be capable of making a step up.

Brown told Football Insider last month that Man City and Chelsea are watching Mane and have been alerted to his talents since his debut in December.

Scouts from a number of Premier League clubs, not just the big six, have been watching and have been impressed by his displays despite Wolves’ struggles.
