Keith Jackson reacts to ‘extraordinary’ information on Rangers controversy vs Livingston

    Mon 23 February 2026 10:14, UK

Keith Jackson could not hold back his laughter when discussing the decision not to award a foul on Mikey Moore in the closing minutes of Rangers’ draw at Livingston.

The Bears came away with a 2-2 draw after going two goals down, but they could have had the chance to complete the turnaround.

Moore had raced through on goal, where he was taken out on the edge of the box by Cameron Kerr, but amazingly, no foul was given, and VAR backed it.

A moment which Jackson has now described as “extraordinary”, as he was unable to hold in his amusement at the situation.

Speaking via Hotline Live, Jackson said: “The referee, who was Ryan Lee, chose to do nothing. This was extraordinary. Then VAR obviously gets in his ears, going, ‘Hold on, Ryan, we might want to examine this.’

“Now, you can only go with the information you are getting, and the information appears to be from Clydesdale House, that having studied the footage, they were happy that the contact takes place outside the penalty box.”

Could VAR still have intervened in Livingston vs Rangers?

While they might not have been able to intervene due to the foul being outside the box in their view, Moore was through on goal, and the offence was a denial of a goalscoring opportunity.

The VAR could have still insisted on an on-field review for a red card, and if Kerr was sent off, it could have influenced the match.

There was plenty of time remaining for Rangers to snag a winning goal, and Jackson is in agreement with that sentiment.

He continued: “Where I am struggling, and I have seen it a few times, it is a clear red.”

Unfortunately, now for Danny Rohl’s side, they have lost ground in the title race, falling a further two points behind Hearts, with a crucial tie against Celtic at Ibrox coming up next.

Rohl is getting the best out of Moore at Rangers

Since the turn of the New Year, Moore has been playing exceptionally well under Rohl. The Tottenham loanee has now contributed to four goals since the beginning of January.

Previously, he had just three over the opening few months of the season.

Despite being just 18 years old, Moore is showing a lot of experience and fight to try and drag Rangers over the line for title number 56.

If it wasn’t for his header, the Bears would have been further behind the Jam Tarts, and truthfully, he should have been awarded a free kick and had a Livingston player sent off.

While you can bemoan the overall performance from the Gers against Livingston, you cannot question Moore’s work ethic.
