Premier League sack race: Eddie Howe odds slashed as pressure heaps on Newcastle manager

Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Man City has left the Magpies in 11th, with the chance of European qualifications continuing to get slimmer.
As a result, Howe has been under heavy pressure, with Newcastle overseeing four defeats in their last five Premier League matches.
Now, the 48-year-old is the fourth favourite to be the next manager to leave in the English top-flight at 20/1.
Oddschecker on 23 February have confirmed that these odds have been slashed as the pressure continues to grow on the Englishman.
Newcastle at massive risk of not qualifying for Europe
As it stands, Newcastle are in immense danger of not finishing in the top eight.
An eighth-place finish should see the Magpies reach the Europa Conference League, depending on the winner of the FA Cup, with England set to be awarded an extra European spot.
However, before Everton’s tie against Man United, they are two points off this position, and this could extend to four depending on the winner of Monday’s Premier League tie.
As it stands, Opta on 23 February does not believe that the Magpies can close this gap, with Bournemouth predicted to pip them to eighth spot.
Nevertheless, Newcastle could still reach Europe by either winning the FA Cup or the Champions League. However, both of these routes remain unlikely.
Who is the current favourite to be sacked next in the Premier League?
As it stands, Oliver Glasner is the odds-on favourite to be sacked next at 4/6.
Despite announcing his intention to leave at the end of the campaign, Crystal Palace’s recent form has been awful, and they needed a 90th-minute winner to overcome bottom-placed Wolves on the weekend.
Following this is both Scott Parker and Fabian Hurzeler at 7/2.
Parker looks destined to take Burnley down this season, despite their recent solid run of form, as they remain eight points from safety.
In comparison, Hurzeler has been under heavy pressure at Brighton, and he finally oversaw a victory on the weekend as they beat Brentford 2-0.

A potential outsider is also Marco Silva at 25/1. Despite Fulham doing extremely well this season, sitting 10th in the Premier League, the manager is yet to renew his contract, which is set to expire in the summer.
As a result, Silva has been linked to numerous roles after impressing at Craven Cottage.
