West Ham vs Bournemouth ref watch: Three decisions Samuel Barrott got wrong

West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo on the sidelines / Andoni Iraola manager of Bournemouth enjoys the win during the Everton vs AFC Bournemouth P...
Samuel Barrott found himself being hounded by both fanbases as West Ham and Bournemouth battled it out at the London Stadium.

Tensions started to rise as neither side could break the deadlock, despite chances from Rayan and Taty Castellanos going amiss on Saturday, 21 February.

The referee had plenty of incidents to keep his eye on, though, with some huge figures going toe-to-toe in East London, only for the game to end without a single goal in East London.

In the grand scheme of things, West Ham will be far happier with a point than Andoni Iraola, who was forced to watch from the stands, with the Bournemouth boss serving a touchline ban.

Jarrod Bowen continuously man-handled by Bournemouth defenders

Unsurprisingly, Jarrod Bowen was targeted by Iraola’s players at the London Stadium, keeping at least one man on him at all times.

The Hammers attempted to use the England international as an escape route on several occasions, but he often found himself left on the floor after a crunching challenge.

Multiple times, Barrott completely overlooked fouls on Bowen, which should have been free-kicks at the very least, and this continued throughout the 90 minutes.

Samuel Barrott decides against blatant Tyler Adams booking

Early in the second half, Tyler Adams brought down Crysencio Summerville in quite a cynical fashion, leaving the winger in a heap on the floor and in pain.

Barrot was right next to the action, getting himself over before anything else kicked off, with many expecting the referee to produce a yellow card for the American.

However, he decided to show the midfielder the benefit of the doubt. He was then hooked and replaced by Ryan Christie just after the hour mark, having only recently returned from injury himself.

El Hadji Malick Diouf vs Marcos Senesi drama sparks in the box

Although the ball was not yet in-play, there was a very clear incident between El Hadji Malick Diouf and Marcos Senesi at a corner situation, with the latter ending up on the floor.

The West Ham defender was tugging at Senesi’s shirt, and while the correct decision was for the corner to be taken again, the referee did absolutely nothing to address the incident.

Premier League officials appear to be turning a blind eye to more and more contentious incidents this season, and this was another. Diouf was fortunate to get away with his shirt tug.
