Rangers News exclusive: Details of lucrative Nico Raskin new contract revealed
Rangers are understood to be keen on handing a new contract to Nicolas Raskin in the coming weeks.
The Belgium international has been a mainstay in the first team and has put in consistent performances despite managerial and ownership turmoil.
Raskin has also emerged as a leader at the Ibrox outfit and wears the captain’s armband in James Tavernier’s absence.
If Rangers make a decision to let Tavernier leave, there is a good chance that the midfielder will become the next permanent captain.

Rangers want to hand lucrative new deal to Nico Raskin
According to the Daily Record, the Ibrox outfit are set to open talks with the 24-year-old over a new contract.
His current contract expires in June 2027, but the club hold the option to trigger an extension by another year, which they appear to have already exercised.
Despite that, Rangers are keen on extending that further by a few more years and putting his wages in line with the top earners at the club.

Rangers News understands that Tavernier is the highest earner at Govan, pocketing around £30k/week.
The recent update means that Raskin, too, will perhaps be upgraded to a higher tier, potentially making as much as the captain.
This would represent a 50 per cent increase on his current salary.
Prior to this, sources have told Rangers News that the midfielder was among the top 10 earners at Ibrox, but he could very well be the highest earner next season, particularly if Tavernier leaves.

What Rangers plan to do after Raskin’s new deal?
Despite a few underwhelming displays in recent weeks, the club believe that Raskin is one for the future, and are willing to put their money where their mouth is.
The plan, should the midfielder agree to the new terms, will likely mean building a squad around him.
Tochi Chukwuani’s signing in January has already seen the likes of Mohamed Diomande and Raskin playing more freely, and potentially another attacking midfielder could be signed in the summer.
Raskin’s influence is beyond what he offers on the pitch, as he is one of the most important voices behind the scenes as well.
Danny Rohl will undoubtedly have had a say in the Gers’ plan to hand a new deal to the 24-year-old.
