The Englishman has been the undisputed number one at Ibrox this season, with Danny Rohl keeping the faith in the former Manchester United stopper.

That wasn’t always the case in Govan, as last season, Barry Ferguson utilised Liam Kelly as his main shotstopper throughout his interim spell.

The Scot hasn’t featured in the Scottish Premiership this season, leaving Butland to focus on his spot in the side this campaign.

That hasn’t taken away from exit links for the 32-year-old, as Ibrox News rounds up everything we know about his current contract situation.

What is Jack Butland’s current contract situation at Rangers?

The former Manchester United man may be the go-to man in G51 right now, but he has still been susceptible to mistakes this campaign.

He has only conceded 21 goals in 27 league appearances this year, with three of those coming off the back of individual errors in the Scottish Premiership.

His shocker against Kilmarnock was arguably the worst of the bunch, with the keeper admitting he’s “never conceded a goal like it” in his career.

These errors have resulted in many supporters suggesting that the Light Blues could look to sign a new goalkeeper moving into next season.

The upcoming window is also the final opportunity for the Govan club to cash in on Butland, with his contract expiring in the summer of 2027.

He signed for Rangers in June 2023 and penned a four-year deal, with around 15 months remaining on it.

Butland is earning £25,000-per-week and will have been paid £5.2million by the end of his spell at Ibrox, if he doesn’t sign a new deal before then.

When could Butland leave Rangers?

The fact that the shot stopper will have just 12 months remaining on his current deal at Ibrox in the summer has fueled recent exit speculation.

Rangers could potentially command a transfer fee upwards of £1m for the keeper, which could help send them on their way to landing a new number one in the summer.

That could prove to be a risk based on his longevity at Ibrox, so there is every chance that Rohl keeps him around for another year.

Butland could then assess his options and complete a free transfer exit in a year, but there are likely to be plenty of discussions between now and then in G51.
