Deal Finalize: Rangers Has Finally Agrees £10m Asking Price for Emmanuel Fernandez as Arsenal Why beat Chelsea in the Circle

Rangers Set £10m Asking Price for Emmanuel Fernandez as Arsenal and Chelsea Circle

Scottish giants Rangers have placed a firm £10 million valuation on highly rated defender Emmanuel Fernandez amid growing transfer interest from Premier League heavyweights Arsenal and Chelsea, sources have revealed.

The 22-year-old centre-back has emerged as one of the most promising young defenders in Scotland this season, with his commanding displays at the heart of Rangers’ backline attracting significant attention south of the border. Fernandez’s blend of physical dominance, composure in possession, and tactical maturity has not gone unnoticed, and scouts from multiple English clubs have been closely monitoring his progress in recent months.

Rangers, however, are under no immediate pressure to sell. The Ibrox side view Fernandez as a key component of their long-term project and are keen to avoid losing another prized asset without maximising value. As a result, the club’s hierarchy has set a £10m asking price — a figure designed both to reflect his rapid development and to deter opportunistic bids.

Arsenal are understood to be particularly keen. Mikel Arteta’s side are actively exploring options to strengthen their defensive depth, especially with a view to competing across multiple competitions next season. Fernandez’s profile — young, athletic, and comfortable building from the back — fits the mould of the modern defender Arsenal have consistently targeted in recent windows.

Chelsea, meanwhile, continue their aggressive recruitment strategy focused on emerging talent. The Stamford Bridge club have invested heavily in youth over the past two years, and Fernandez is seen internally as a player with significant upside and resale value. While no formal offer has yet been submitted by either London club, preliminary discussions and background checks have taken place.

Fernandez’s rise has been impressive. After initially arriving with limited fanfare, he quickly established himself as a reliable presence in high-pressure fixtures, including domestic cup ties and European competition. His aerial strength and timing in the tackle have been standout attributes, while his improving distribution has added another dimension to his game.

Rangers are believed to be open to negotiation should bidding reach their valuation, but they will not entertain cut-price proposals. The club’s recruitment model has increasingly focused on developing young players and selling at a premium — a strategy that has helped maintain financial stability while remaining competitive.

For Fernandez, interest from Arsenal and Chelsea represents a significant opportunity. A move to the Premier League would mark a major step up, but those close to the player suggest he remains fully focused on finishing the season strongly with Rangers.

With the summer transfer window approaching, the situation is expected to develop quickly. Should either Arsenal or Chelsea decide to formalise their interest, Rangers will stand firm on their £10m valuation — setting the stage for what could become one of the more intriguing defensive transfer sagas of the window.

For now, Fernandez’s future remains at Ibrox. But with two of England’s biggest clubs watching closely, Rangers may soon face a decision that tests both their resolve and their valuation.
