Sources: Leeds to accept ‘big’ Wilfried Gnonto offer

Football Insider exclusive as Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto glances across a split image towards manager Daniel Farke, who is arriving for a ...

Leeds United will consider letting Wilfried Gnonto leave if a “big offer” arrives in the summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The winger is interested in the possibility of a move away from Elland Road at the end of the season, as he has found himself starved of regular gametime in recent months.

Leeds’ success since switching to a 3-5-2 formation means that Gnonto’s gametime is not expected to drastically increase in the second half of the campaign, and sources say that the club hierarchy will consider accepting an offer for him as a result.

The 22-year-old hasn’t started a Premier League game for Daniel Farke’s side since 29 November, and the boss may look to try and trim his winger options ahead of next season.

Why did Wilfried Gnonto survive a January exit at Leeds?

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in November that Leeds were happy to let Gnonto leave in the January window, but that exit ultimately never materialised.

The Italian youngster has had something of a tumultuous time at Elland Road since his move from Zurich back in 2022, and he even briefly refused to play back in August 2023 in a bid to try and force a move after his team’s relegation.

    MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES

He has been routinely linked with a move elsewhere since then, with intermittent interest from Saudi Arabia appearing in several of the recent transfer windows.

The writing appeared to be on the wall for Gnonto in January, but Football Insider then revealed that Leeds would pull the plug on any possibility of an exit after they allowed Jack Harrison to join Fiorentina.

The wideman’s situation hasn’t improved since then, and he has still played just 40 minutes of league football since the start of 2026.

Brenden Aaronson and Noah Okafor are both enjoying successful seasons, and that looks set to leave Gnonto on the fringes of the squad, for what could finally be his last few months with the Whites.

Leeds eye new goalkeeper despite Lucas Perri heroics

Football Insider revealed last week that Leeds will target a new starting goalkeeper this summer, as they bid to further consolidate their place in the Premier League.

Farke is keen to ensure that his team can continue pushing forwards after a promising campaign this term, and he has identified the goalkeeping department as a key area for improvement.

The German is not confident in the ability of Lucas Perri, while veteran Karl Darlow is not seen as a long-term option by either the boss or the club hierarchy.

Perri produced heroics to save two penalties in the shootout victory over Birmingham City in the FA Cup last weekend, but that has done little to change the manager’s stance towards him.

Farke is determined to bring a new gloveman through the door, and the board appear set to try and facilitate that for him in the summer.
