Announcement: Rangers Boss Danny Rohl Announce Thelo Aasgaard After Poorly Performance Against Heart Match

Thelo Aasgaard is getting nowhere near Rangers XI as Danny Rohl has Hearts blueprint

Rangers v S.C. Braga UEFA Europa League Manager Danny Rohl and Rangers midfielder Thelo Aasgaard
Rangers recorded a vital three points against Hearts on Sunday.

Ibrox was bouncing come 4:30pm on Sunday afternoon, as Rangers and Hearts contested the biggest game of the Premiership season so far.

For Gers boss Danny Rohl, he knew this was going to be his most important day in the Ibrox dugout since arriving in Glasgow back in October of last year, as the title race pendulum was going to swing one way or another.

Thankfully for him, it swung in the direction of his team, as a Youssef Chermiti hat-trick and a Michael Steinwender own goal helped Gers to a memorable 4-2 victory over Hearts.

As such, Derek McInnes’ men have seen their lead at the top of the Premiership cut to two points, and it remains to be seen just how much damage this defeat has done to their confidence and momentum.

Danny Rohl’s strength in depth in attack shown v Hearts

Rohl certainly earned his money on Sunday afternoon, making a host of brave calls when picking his starting XI against Hearts.

Ryan Naderi and Tuur Rommens were both handed their first Premiership starts since signing in the winter window, meanwhile defenders Dujon Sterling and Emmanuel Fernandez also returned to the starting lineup.

However, arguably Rohl’s toughest decision was who to give the nod to on the right wing, with Andreas Skov Olsen and Djeidi Gassama two quality options.

Indeed, it was the former who won that battle, and he repaid Rohl’s faith by grabbing an assist for Chermiti’s second of the game, and put in an all-round quality performance.

And to show just how much strength in depth Rohl has in attack, Gassama came on with just two minutes to play but still got involved in the goals, with his excellent solo run preceding his pass to Chermiti, who finished for his hat-trick.

Mikey Moore was superb on the left as well, whilst Tochi Chukwuani and Nicolas Raskin look every bit of a top-class central midfield pairing in the Premiership.

Thelo Aasgaard has missed the Rangers boat

So, off the back of this crucial win over Hearts, Rohl appears to have found his winning recipe in attack that he surely won’t deviate from unless he’s forced to.

That doesn’t involve Thelo Aasgaard, who after a string of disappointing performances over the last few weeks, has now fallen out of favour with Rohl at the worst possible time for his Ibrox career.

Just as Rangers’ attack seems to have well and truly clicked, Aasgaard’s showings have cost him a place in the team, and with the likes of Skov Olsen, Gassama, Moore and Chukwuani not for budging, his pathway back into the lineup isn’t obvious.

Despite only signing for Gers in this season’s summer window, his future in Glasgow already looks far from certain.

Even more alarmingly for Aasgaard, Rohl switched to a 4-2-2-2 against Hearts that didn’t see him deploy a central attacking midfielder like he has been doing, which is Aasgaard’s natural position.

So, things aren’t looking good for Aasgaard at Ibrox right now to say the least.
