Emmanuel Fernandez returns as Danny Rohl makes three changes – Rangers predicted XI vs Hearts

Rangers face their biggest game of the season so far on Sunday when Hearts come to Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership.

It’s first against second in Glasgow this Sunday, as Rangers host Premiership leaders Hearts in a 4:30pm kick-off.

Danny Rohl‘s side come into the game off the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw against Motherwell on Wednesday night, having conceded an 89th-minute equaliser against the side who played the last 12 minutes a man down.

Gers must put that frustration behind them though, as defeat against Derek McInnes’ men this weekend could be a knockout blow to their title hopes.

Danny Rohl makes three changes from Motherwell game

With none of his current injured crop of players expected to return this Sunday, Rohl won’t be getting any reinforcements to his selection options.

    MORE RANGERS STORIES

The Motherwell game was a tough pill to swallow for Gers, and with their title chances potentially at stake this weekend, Rohl needs to deliver his best teamsheet of his Rangers career to date.

As such, this should see the return to the starting lineup for centre-back Emmanuel Fernandez, who was recently awarded with the player of the month award for January.

The 24-year-old was introduced from the bench for the final 15 minutes against Motherwell, and he could slot back into the lineup alongside John Souttar in place of Nasser Djiga.

At left-back, Jayden Meghoma’s performances have been up and down in recent weeks, with the 19-year-old providing just the one assist from his last seven games.

Tuur Rommens has been pushing for a first Premiership start over the last few games, and now this could be the perfect opportunity to unleash the Belgian from the off to hand Hearts a fresh and somewhat unknown challenge.

Meanwhile, Youssef Chermiti has now gone six games in all competitions without a goal, and looks like a striker who could be in need of a rest.

Therefore, Bojan Miovski could come into the starting XI in his place, as the North Macedonian international has bagged twice in his last three appearances, and so Rohl could look to feed the hot hand.

Rangers have to find attacking invention against Hearts

Hearts have been on an impressive run of clean sheets over the last few weeks, keeping five in their last seven Premiership games.

As such, Rangers will have to create more than just the 10 shots and four on target they produced against Motherwell if they are to stand any chance of breaking through this stubborn Hearts defence.

Likewise, Rangers are going to have to be uncharitable at the back too, as Hearts have only failed to score once in their last 12 league games.

It’s all set up to be a brilliant game of football in Glasgow this Sunday, and Rangers will know that a win could really turn the title race tide in their favour.
