West Ham fans snub Crysencio Summerville again as rising star gets Man of the Match award
While West Ham United’s recent revival is down to several reasons, Crysencio Summerville’s role in it cannot be ignored.
On Saturday, Summerville scored again as West Ham beat Burnley 2-0 in a huge win at the bottom of the Premier League table.
The Dutchman scored the first at Turf Moor and was later involved in the second as West Ham moved within three points of Premier League safety.
Describe Mads Hermansen’s West Ham return in ONE word! 🧤

Obviousy he was going to be apprehensive judging by the way he has been scorned by the critics. He must be aware of all that has been said.Good on the lad,it seems he’s been working hard to allay the fears. He must have been seen as class in the first place to be worth the fee.He was dependable I was impressed.
Indeed, Summerville equalled a scoring record for West Ham by becoming the first player to notch in five consecutive games since Jesse Lingard did it in 2021.
Clearly, several players have stepped up in recent weeks but it’s hard to imagine the strong run West Ham are on now would have happened without him.
Still, Hammers News subscribers on TalkingPoints named a different Man of the Match from the win over the Clarets in the form of Mateus Fernandes.
Mateus Fernandes named Man of the Match by West Ham fans
The website asked our readers and subscribers for their Man of the Match following the game.
Naturally, goalscorers Summerville and Taty Castellanos were given as options, as well as Fernandes.
The Portuguese midfielder is a rising star these days. Though clearly talented, only now is he really deciding games on a consistent basis.
The former Southampton star played in Summerville for the first goal and it was his brilliant long ball from deep that helped tee up the second.
Serious question – are you taking a peak Mateus Fernandes or a peak Lucas Paqueta in your dream midfield?!

Summerville did attract a large percentage of the vote (41.65%) but Fernandes edged it with 48.18%.
Other honourable mentions from subscribers in the comments were Tomas Soucek and Konstantinos Mavropanos.

The budding Summerville and Fernandes partnership is very exciting for West Ham
Summerville believes he’s building a good partnership with Fernandes and that was evident on Saturday given they linked up for both goals.
Though it’s obviously a subjective matter, it’s hard to think of many players involved in the relegation battle who are as good as them.

Jarrod Bowen is up there, as is Morgan Gibbs-White and perhaps Elliot Anderson.
Feel free to comment above and let us know your thoughts on that, but there’s little doubt that both are shining.
Fernandes is becoming a real star at West Ham and perhaps he could yet lead them to safety.
