Newcastle fans explode at Luke Edwards post about Eddie Howe

Newcastle fans are fuming with Eddie Howe after their team were beaten again at home to Brentford on Saturday.
The Magpies slipped to a 3-2 defeat to the Bees on home turf, as Dango Ouattara’s late winner sent Keith Andrews’ side back to the capital with all three points.
Pressure has been mounting on Howe with every passing game of late, as supporters have made their frustrations known as the ambitious club continue to reside in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
The Champions League campaign has been the only respite from the inconsistency in domestic action, and tensions are beginning to come to a head at St James’ Park.

Newcastle fans rage at journalist for Sir Bobby Robson comparison
Bruno Guimaraes was a shining light for Newcastle during their latest defeat on Saturday, but fans are growing increasingly frustrated with both the team and the manager at the moment.
The Tynesiders are now winless in their last five games in all competitions, and Howe is now among the favourites to become the next Premier League manager to lose his job in the coming weeks.
The 48-year-old was booed off the pitch by some sections of the St James’ Park faithful on Saturday, and that is something that journalist Luke Edwards has taken issue with.
Edwards defended Howe in a post on his X account on Saturday evening as he suggested that the current boss had “achieved more” than the legendary duo of Sir Bobby Robson and Kevin Keegan, who he feels were both “driven out” by the fans.
The football writer questioned why Newcastle fans weren’t cutting some slack for “the most successful manager the club has had for 70 years,” and challenged people to name a better fit for the job.
Newcastle fans have reacted angrily to Edwards’ post, with one supporter telling him to “stop blaming the fans” and “have some respect,” while another labelled his suggestion that the fans had driven Robson out as a “low blow.”
Another fan told Edwards to “do better” and pointed out that the narrative about Robson being driven out was generated by Sunderland fans.
- @robertbrownnnn: “You don’t speak for us and you never will.”
- @BrianNUFC: “Bobby wasn’t ’driven out’ by the fans for a start. He should have actually gone at the end of the previous season. The issue was the timing and the terrible replacement.”
- @Kennyw_11: “Just because you might be the most successful manager in 70 years doesn’t mean they are above criticism!“
Andoni Iraola to be the perfect replacement for Eddie Howe
Andoni Iraola has been linked with Newcastle on several occasions in recent months, and his future at Bournemouth is looking bleaker than ever at the moment.
The Spaniard is out of contract on the south coast in the summer, meaning that he could potentially leave the Cherries without compensation in just a few months.
The links between him and the Newcastle job have refused to go away of late, and given the timing of Howe’s struggles, it is possible that the stars could be aligning for to replace him ahead of next season.
Newcastle will likely feel obliged to give Howe until the end of the campaign, considering what he has achieved in recent years, but equally, if they fail to qualify for Europe then he could easily lose his job.
Iraola could become a free agent in the summer, and if he knows that Newcastle view him as a potential option, then it could tempt him into taking his final decision to leave Bournemouth.
