‘Until told differently’ – Eddie Howe well aware he could face Newcastle United sack
Eddie Howe has vowed to fight every day at Newcastle United “until told differently” by the club’s hierarchy.
Pressure has ramped up on the Toon boss in recent weeks following just two wins from eight games. For the first time during his tenure, there have been suggestions that Howe’s future could be in doubt.
NewcastleWorld understands Howe maintains the faith of the St James’ Park board and there is no panic regarding the current campaign. Context is needed, with high-profile figures at Newcastle aware of the mitigating factors behind the underwhelming season.
Eddie Howe on 2030 vision and Newcastle United future
Howe stayed coy when asked whether CEO David Hopkinson was fair to claim Newcastle will be a global powerhouse by 2030. He also made no assertions that he will be Magpies manager in four years – promising to do his best as long as he is in charge.
“It’s a difficult one for me to answer,” Howe told reporters. “Timelines and estimations on things, I think it’s very difficult to give when you’re the manager because I don’t know quite what’s going to happen next week, let alone in four years’ time.
“I think all I try to do is improve the players that I’m working with, try to make them better players every day. Of course, every transfer window we hope the club can improve the squad. You have the coaching aspects of the players you have and then of course the players you recruit are so important.

“Then we see where that takes us and I think it’s very difficult for me to give a response to timelines. I don’t think that’s right. My length of time here, I’ve got no idea. I just try to do my best every day until I’m different.”
Eddie Howe on Newcastle United future
Howe dismissed further suggestions that he plans to step down as Newcastle manager at the end of the season. He added: “That’s a surprise to me. As I said to the question earlier, I give my best every day. To the football club, to all the players, to the staff. I’ll try and be the best version of myself to inspire the team to win games.
“That’s the only thing in my thought. I don’t tend to look too far ahead and I have done. I’ll try and prepare and plan for the club to move forward in every sense. My individual future is not really relevant.”
