West Ham fans pick dream £22m signing in 92 per cent landslide, Adama Traore snubbed
Well, if there is one word no one could use to describe the West Ham United fanbase, it is ‘indecisive’.
We at Hammers News asked last week which of a select group of four transfer targets you would most like to see at the London Stadium before the close of the transfer window.
The four options were Bento Matheus – West Ham United reportedly made an offer for the Al-Nassr and Brazil goalkeeper earlier this month – Toulouse defender Charlie Cresswell, Metz midfielder Alpha Toure, and Fulham winger Adama Traore.
If you could pick only ONE of these players to join West Ham, who are you choosing?
The Hammers have made approaches for all four…
In case you were wondering, these four names were selected because – at the time of writing – they appeared some of the more likely additions to Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad.
Your answer, meanwhile, spoke volumes about the biggest and most glaring weakness in West Ham’s roster.
West Ham United fans want Toulouse ace Charlie Cresswell signed
A deal for Brazil international Bento may be back on. Al-Nassr initially blocked his departure but their stance is likely to have softened after recovering their other first-team goalkeeper from suspension.
In the meantime, West Ham reportedly made a bid for Alpha Toure, in the region of £6 million. Toure, still only 19, is the latest press-resistant midfield prodigy to emerge from a league who gave us Carlos Baleba, Manu Kone, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, Khephren Thuram and more.

Hammers News can also confirm that a reunion between Nuno and Adama Traore is closer than ever. Fulham are more likely to green-light a sale now after Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze returned from the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Cottagers are also now pursuing Manchester City schemer Oscar Bobb.
But in a poll put to our readers, a staggering 92 per cent of you picked the Preston-born powerhouse Cresswell as your dream target among the four names provided.
Charlie Cresswell will be West Ham’s best defender…😍
How can Nuno convince him to join?

The Ligue 1 outfit have rejected a couple of bids from Wolfsburg. Should Lucas Paqueta leave for Flamengo, as expected, the Hammers should have enough money in the bank to blow their Bundesliga counterparts out the water.
Cresswell, a 6ft 3ins centre-half, has won 80 per cent of his aerial duels this season. To put that into perspective, Max Kilman has won only 18 per cent. Jean-Clair Todibo, 12 per cent.
After Tottenham became the latest team to score against Nuno’s side from a cross into the penalty area – Cristian Romero brutishly knocked Aaron Wan-Bissaka aside to draw Spurs level – it is easy to see why Cresswell’s signing would be so keenly welcomed.
The Hammers have a difficult Alphonse Areola decision
What would YOU do with Alphonse Areola? 🧤
Should West Ham stick with him? Or sign a replacement?

If you subscribe to the theory that he was harshly punished against Nottingham Forest – even the Millwall fans were on Alphonse Areola’s side that day – West Ham’s goalkeeper arguably made only one mistake since returning to the XI in September.
In fact, Areola has actually managed to keep the scoreline respectable in certain games, while saving points in others. See, the 2-2 draw at Bournemouth for evidence of the latter.
But with Bento Matheus back on the table, what would you do? Would you spend £10 million and above on a replacement? Or would you keep the faith and kick this can down the road for a few more months?
West Ham set to sign Venezuelan starlet Keiber Lamadrid
How do you FEEL about West Ham signing Keiber Lamadrid?
Is this the sort of low-cost risk the Hammers need to be chasing?

If you were wondering why the London-bound Keiber Lamadrid was not included in our earlier poll, then there is a very good reason for that. It seems that absolutely nobody knew that he was coming!
Keiber arrived in Paris to undergo medical tests and claim a work permit on Monday. But what is Nuno getting in the one-cap Venezuela international?
Well, Keiber Lamadrid is a superb dribbler, for one. Statistically the best in his homeland. He has quite the eye for goal, too.
At the age of 22, and for a reported fee of £870,000, Keiber is young, cheap, and promising.
Is this the sort of ‘market opportunity’ the Hammers need to make more of, in an era where Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth and other forward-facing clubs beginning with ‘B’ are finding great value in lesser-spotted markets?
