‘Absolute donkey’ – Arsenal fans rage at ‘horrendous’ Viktor Gyokeres footage vs Nottingham Forest

Viktor Gyokeres has not made his life any easier at Arsenal after yet another disastrous display against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta is under pressure to win silverware this season, and the Gunners are currently favourites to lift the Premier League title, extending their lead at the top of the table to seven points.

As well as beating the Reds, Man United beat Man City 2-0 at Old Trafford on 17 January, but supporters of the North London club are still not fully satisfied with the team’s performances.

With a couple of weeks remaining until the January transfer window, Arsenal fans are already open to replacing Gyokeres, and those calls got even louder at the City Ground following a goalless draw.

In the first half, a mistake from Murillo allowed for the Swedish international to steam in behind, only for the centre-back to catch up to him and block his goal-bound shot.

It was yet another chance missed by the £55million signing, who was supposed to be the final piece of the Arsenal puzzle, with fans flooding onto social media to blast him.

One supporter was angry enough to call him an “absolute donkey,” as another said that they “can’t do this much longer,” watching the big-money striker continue to struggle in the Premier League.

The fanbase appears completely split over the 27-year-old because, although the Premier League is a huge step up from the Portuguese leagues, he has failed to meet expectations each time he steps onto the pitch.

    • @_Compo: “Gyokeres is awful. Proper Geoff Horsfield vibes.”
    • @steven_baynes: “Viktor Gyokeres. Horrendous composure in possession. Horrendous in transitions. Horrendous in physical duels. Get him out of my club.”
    • @Cal_EL96: “He could only recover because Gyokeres controls the ball like I did when I was 4 years old.”

Being replaced by Gabriel Jesus after just 57 minutes, Arteta was clearly not impressed by his first-choice centre-forward, having another two substitutions at the same time.

During his time on the pitch, the striker completed just four passes, with just 10 touches to his name, had one shot blocked, was dispossessed twice, and offered very little in general [FotMob].

He also lost seven duels, the most of anyone on the pitch at the time of his removal, in what was just a totally unacceptable performance from someone who was expected to be Arteta’s own Erling Haaland.

It was always going to be a tough challenge up against Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo, and Arteta needs to shoulder some of the blame, as Gyokeres continues to be blasted by his own fans.

He might have eight goals in all competitions, but he is nowhere near close to the striker that the North London club need to ensure domination across the Premier League and Europe.
