Nuno set to completely change formation as West Ham look to bring England international back to London
The next move for Nuno will be to bolster his central defensive options.
West Ham have conceded more goals than any other club in the Premier League this season.
And the Hammers boss could well have a cunning plan to help change that.
Nuno could change formation as West Ham look to sign Eric Dier
Eric Dier has been sensationally linked with a move to West Ham in the January transfer window (talkSPORT).
The 31-year-old former Tottenham star currently plays for Ligue 1 side Monaco.
With 49 England caps to his name, Dier is a proven performer at the very highest level of the game.
He actually performed really well for Bayern Munich for 18 months before joining Monaco in the summer of 2025.

Of course, Nuno has managed Dier before, during his ill-fated spell as Tottenham manager.
And the way in which the Hammers boss used the England international at Spurs offers us a real clue that he could be set to switch formations.
West Ham signing Eric Dier would make perfect sense
During his time at Tottenham, Nuno exclusively used Dier in the middle of a back-three.
How much confidence does the win over QPR give you heading into Spurs? 👀
Oh, how sweet it would be to start to turn things around against them 😍

Everybody apart from the board and manager we need two centre half’s, the club is run by clueless idiots.

For Paqs performance this season, and a lot of last, I think decent cash would be more useful. We MUST get a class centre half and another box to box defender to give us any chance at all of stopping the decline to Championship.

Any confidence is welcomed, we CANNOT be relegated,we just CANNOT, we must dig dig dig deep, believe, and get clear of 18th!! COYI ❤️⚒️🏴
Of course, Nuno deployed the 3-5-2 formation to great effect during his time in charge of Wolves, and he did the same at Nottingham Forest as well.
West Ham signing Dier and Nuno using him in the middle of a back-three would make perfect sense.
What the Hammers boss has been doing clearly isn’t working.
Doing the same things repeatedly while expecting different results is said to be the definition of insanity.
Nuno bringing in Eric Dier and switching to a back three may well be the changes that West Ham need to really turn things around this season.
While Dier’s best years may be behind him, he is still a very solid centre-back and is on another level entirely to the likes of Max Kilman and Konstantinos Mavropanos.
