David Moyes reunion with ‘world-class’ player at Everton close as club look for transfer solution

    Everton manager David Moyes

Everton aren’t expecting a busy transfer window, but David Moyes has a few opportunities in the winter transfer window that should be explored.

Sunderland are open to letting Dan Neil leave on loan, and the Toffees arguably need to explore a deal for the talented English midfielder.

While Moyes is only expecting a couple of loan deals at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, there’s no reason for the Blues to overlook any market opportunities that pop up.

The Scottish manager is adamant about taking the Merseyside outfit back into Europe, with his previous success at West Ham United in the UEFA Conference League certainly encouraging.

    MORE TOFFEES STORIES

James Ward-Prowse should be Everton target in January

Nuno Espirito Santo has admitted that James Ward-Prowse is unwanted at West Ham.

The Portuguese manager has revealed that the Hammers will look to find the best solution for the England international’s future after struggling for game time at the London Stadium.

In the Irons’ last 16 Premier League matches, the ex-Southampton ace has been missing from the matchday squad, giving the Toffees a chance to sign him at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Speaking to the media on 9 January, Nuno said, “The situation with James is clear from some time ago. I think he’s not in the options, and it’s for us to find the best solutions for his future.”

Moyes wants to reunite with Ward-Prowse, having managed the midfielder in the 2023-24 season.

During the Englishman’s debut campaign at the London Stadium under the Scottish manager, he scored seven goals and provided seven assists in 37 Premier League appearances.

David Moyes to exploit one ‘world-class’ trait of James Ward-Prowse

Moyes already knows what Ward-Prowse is capable of, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the 31-year-old get back to his best in Merseyside.

Everton have failed to score a goal from a free-kick, and their set-piece deliveries could undoubtedly be better.

The Blues could potentially improve their prospects from dead-ball situations by signing Ward-Prowse, and speaking about the Englishman in 2023, Moyes said, “Let’s be fair, he is world-class at his deliveries, James Ward-Prowse. If I were him, I’d be disappointed that the other boys haven’t scored more from his deliveries this season already.”

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the midfielder and whether the Merseysiders will take a chance on him.
