Roma midfielder Edoardo Bove could be ready to return to football at Everton after his cardiac arrest in 2024.

While on loan at Fiorentina, the 23-year-old collapsed on the field during a match against Inter Milan on 1 December and was taken to the hospital.

David Moyes is expected to sign a few players at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in January, and the Italy Under-21 international could be one of them as he looks to kickstart his career.

In Italy, players are prohibited from competing in professional sports if they have significant heart issues or require an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD).

Bove still has a contract until 2028 at Roma, but a severance package is being discussed, according to Il Messaggero.

The news outlet reports on 7 January that the midfielder is close to a deal with the Giallorossi, and a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium could be on the cards.

It’s been claimed that Watford and clubs from the Netherlands are also interested in the Italian youngster who is currently on a private training regimen.

With a move to the Toffees, The Friedkin Group would ensure Bove’s continuity in a competitive league and reduce Roma’s wage bill.

The midfielder broke out in the 2023-24 season at the Stadio Olimpico, making 45 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A giants, and every football fan will hope he can return to his best after a lengthy layoff.

The Italy Under-21 international has shown a lot of potential as he made his way through the youth ranks at Roma, and the Toffees should look to sign him as a free agent.
