Newcastle United transfer news and rumours – Oscar Bobb latest and William Osula deal could collapse

The January transfer window is almost upon us and Newcastle United continue to be linked with various moves.

Hopefully, the January transfer window is a busy time for Newcastle United.

They have not been able to make a signing halfway through a campaign in three years due to financial restrictions.

Sign a new right winger in January or wait for Anthony Elanga to come good?

For a minute, in this make believe fantasy land, let’s forget about PSR 😂

Even Jacob Murphy has looked off it this season!

However, money is now available for Eddie Howe in the transfer market, although there is no guarantee the club will actually spend it.

Still, just having funds on offer does make it a much more exciting prospect than in previous years.

With that in mind, Geordie Boot Boys looks at the latest Newcastle United transfer news and rumours.

Oscar Bobb could be offered to Newcastle United

Oscar Bobb famously broke Newcastle hearts back in February 2024 by scoring a late winner at St James’ Park to seal a 3-2 win for Manchester City.

The Norway international, however, has since suffered a serious leg injury and is yet to rediscover his best form.

With City reportedly set to sign Antonie Semenyo in January, Bobb could be allowed to leave.

According to The Chronicle, Bobb could be offered around to Premier League clubs including Newcastle for around £20million in January.

William Osula’s Newcastle United exit could be ruined

One of the major stories heading into January is the future of William Osula.

Indeed, Eintracht Frankfurt want to sign Osula, but reports have previously suggested that they are still waiting for a green light from Newcastle.

Clearly, they cannot wait forever, and there has now been an interesting twist.

According to German football expert Florian Plettenberg, Frankfurt are now in talks with Nottingham Forest over a move for Arnaud Kalimuendo as a potential alternative should the Osula deal collapse.

Update on Newcastle United’s battle for Kees Smit

Kees Smit is also a major name to look out for when it comes to the January transfer window.

Geordie Boot Boys understand that Newcastle want to sign Smit from AZ Alkmaar, although they face competition from a host of top clubs.

Now, talkSPORT have offered an update.

They suggest that Newcastle and Real Madrid are the two clubs currently most interested in Smit, although Crystal Palace are also keeping a close eye on proceedings.
