Nuno Espirito Santo to look away as supercomputer reveals West Ham’s Premier League survival chances

West Ham United are firmly in the Premier League relegation zone as the season nears its halfway point.

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side fell to yet another defeat on Saturday, Erling Haaland scoring a brace as West Ham lost 3-0 to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium

The Hammers are now five points adrift of safety, sitting on just 13 themselves from their first 17 games of the campaign.

The East London side are winless in their last six Premier League matches, and are in real danger of relegation to the Championship.

West Ham predicted for Premier League relegation

After Leeds United’s impressive recent revival in the Premier League, West Ham are getting cut adrift slightly in the relegation zone.

    MORE WEST HAM STORIES

The Hammers originally rediscovered some form when Nuno replaced Graham Potter at the London Stadium, beating both Newcastle United and Burnley at the start of November.

However, West Ham have drawn three and lost three since then, and the threat of relegation is growing by the game.

According to the Opta Supercomputer, Nuno’s side currently have a 61.76 per cent chance of finishing in the bottom three and dropping into the Championship next season.

Wolves (99.85%) and Burnley (89.49%) both look almost certain to go down and Leeds are now favourites to finish 17th, with just a 22.21 per cent chance of suffering relegation.

West Ham have one last survival hope

It’s no secret that the success of West Ham’s season now rests on the January transfer window and whether they are able to suitably reinforce their squad.

Nuno is more than capable of keeping the East London side in the Premier League, but he currently doesn’t have the tools at his disposal.

West Ham have been linked with Jorgen Strand Larsen, as well as Chris Wood, as they look to solve their centre-forward issues when the window reopens.

    Season Player Signed From Fee
    2024-25 Evan Ferguson Brighton Loan
2023-24 Kalvin Phillips Man City Loan
2022-23 Danny Ings Aston Villa £12m

West Ham’s last three January signingsHowever, given their recent history of January signings, Hammers fans will be worried that their Premier League status now rests on the strength of their recruitment over the next six weeks.
