Troy Parrott emerges as only option for West Ham to sign in January as £14m loss detailed

West Ham need to focus on signing Troy Parrott as new reports all but rule them out of respective moves for Ivan Toney or Promise David.

West Ham have struggled to score goals this season, with incomings and outgoings on the horizon next month as a result.

Niclas Fullkrug is set to leave the Hammers after a dismal few months in front of goal, with his exit set to leave Callum Wilson as Nuno Espirito Santo‘s only striker option.

A number of new forwards have been linked to the capital club, with West Ham interested in signing Ivan Toney, while Promise David is liked by Hammers chiefs ahead of the upcoming January window.

West Ham have also been tipped to move for Troy Parrott as he shines for club and country, and he should be their main priority up-front after two new developments.

West Ham are unlikely to sign either Toney or David for different reasons

Toney has been scoring regularly out in Saudi Arabia for Al-Ahli, meaning rumours have swirled around him potentially moving back to England to make a late play for Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad.

The 29-year-old has only been called up by Tuchel once since he took charge, but despite the Hammers’ aforementioned interest, talkSPORT have revealed that Toney is “unlikely” to return to the Premier League next month due to tax reasons.

He is believed to be happy in Saudi Arabia and would have to pay back 50 per cent of his estimated £28million earnings since joining Al-Ahli should he leave the country before April 2026, so a £14m loss is not set to be enough to justify him moving back to England.

As well as him, West Ham are believed to have registered an interest in Union Saint-Gilloise striker David, who has scored six goals in 15 league appearances so far this season.

The Canadian international has scored twice in the Champions League too, but talkSPORT have also reported that the Hammers have suffered a setback in their pursuit of his services, as he is “reluctant” to swap UCL football for a Premier League relegation battle.

They are are set to go back to the drawing board with their striker targets, as a result, and one man must be at the top of their list right now.

West Ham must accelerate Parrott move amid fierce transfer competition

Parrott‘s career has burst into life over the last 12 months after some incredible developments at both club and international level.

He scored 20 times in 47 appearances for AZ Alkmaar last season after joining from Tottenham, and Football Insider recently revealed that Parrott is wanted by Premier League sides after he fired Ireland to the World Cup play-offs.

As well as West Ham, both Leeds and Wolves want Parrott in January, so now is the time for Nuno to urge his higher-ups to make a move for the Irishman as soon as possible.

The 23-year-old has scored 15 goals in 19 appearances for Alkmaar so far this season, and is believed to be open to a move back to English football.

With Toney and David both now seemingly out of the transfer picture, it makes sense for the Hammers to fully focus on trying to sign Parrott to provide genuine competition to Wilson and fire them up the table.
