Marc Guehi makes up mind on January plan after Liverpool news

Football Insider exclusive as Marc Guehi is in action for Crystal Palace, while manager Oliver Glasner watches on from a circular inset.

Marc Guehi has no intention of forcing a move away from Crystal Palace in January, sources have told Football Insider.

The England international has become one of the hottest properties in the Premier League in recent years, and he is expected to be the subject of plenty of interest once again this winter.

Football Insider recently revealed that Liverpool’s interest in Guehi remains, after they came extremely close to securing his signature in the summer.

The centre-back is out of contract at Crystal Palace at the end of the season, but his situation is expected to come to a head in January instead.

Marc Guehi to remain professional until Crystal Palace deal expires

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown recently told Football Insider that Crystal Palace are bracing for bids worth £35million for Guehi this winter, as they look set to face yet more pressure regarding the 25-year-old’s future.

Interest has also mounted in the defender from overseas, and he will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs on European soil as soon as the festive period is over.

It is now seen as inevitable that he will leave Selhurst Park either in January or next summer, but that is not expected to alter his attitude at all on the pitch.

It is understood that Guehi has been largely unaffected by the interest from Liverpool and others in the summer, and it is seen as highly unlikely that his stance towards Palace will change at all this time around.

He has gone about his business in a professional manner, and that looks set to continue despite the opportunity to leave seemingly ready to present itself once again.

Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate stance to spark transfer chain

Football Insider exclusively revealed last week that Liverpool are prepared to let Ibrahima Konate leave for a fee of £15m this winter, amid an ongoing contract struggle between the two parties.

However, that decision will hinge on their ability to secure a capable replacement for the wantaway Frenchman, with Guehi still among their primary targets.

The Reds’ latest stance provides further incentive for them to get a deal done for the Palace star this winter, as it would likely enable them to at least net some sort of fee for Konate, rather than losing him on a free next summer.

With that in mind, there is likely to be an additional sense of urgency from Merseyside once the window opens, and that could also result in Palace seeing their £35m valuation met relatively quickly.
