Opta Supercomputer makes West Ham Premier League relegation prediction after Brighton draw

West Ham dropped two points as they played out a 1-1 draw against Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday.

Jarrod Bowen opened the scoring for the visitors and Georginio Rutter equalised in stoppage time to secure a point for the Seagulls.

That result meant that West Ham United ended the weekend in the bottom three with 13 points in 15 games.

West Ham predicted to avoid relegation

After the games on Sunday, Opta’s Supercomputer crunched the numbers and the results are that the Hammers will narrowly avoid relegation.

Leeds United, who are currently in 16th place, are predicted to finish in 18th and thus get relegated come May.

As things stand, Opta has given the Whites a 41.6 per cent chance of getting relegated from the Premier League.

The Hammers are given a 38.82 per cent chance of finishing in the bottom three, but currently, are expected to finish on the same points as Leeds (38).

Bowen was the standout performer for me. Head in since minute one and gets the goal he deserved.

Can Nuno Espirito Santo keep West Ham up?

The Brighton game was the perfect example of the Hammers doing everything right but not getting the three points.

They were extremely unlucky to see the decision go against them, as it was a clear foul in the build-up to Rutter’s goal.

However, dropping two points is not on Nuno Espirito Santo or his tactical system.

The Portuguese has improved a lot of players since his arrival and they seem to know what their roles are.

What did you make of Jarrod Bowen’s celebration after he scored against Brighton?

Graham Potter seemed to expect too much from his side and that resulted in confusing them more than anything.

Nuno does seem well-positioned to get the best out of this side, but he does need the board to back him in January.

While the winter is not the best time to make too many signings, failure to bring in quality will result in relegation.

That is why it is imperative that the Hammers make at least two quality signings who can strengthen the playing eleven.

Nuno seems to be handling the tricky fixture list pretty well, but games against Aston Villa and Manchester City are going to be tougher and even one point from either of those matches should be considered a decent return.
