Everton, Leeds United, West Ham United competing with Bayern Munich in Nathan De Cat chase

West Ham United are set to compete with Everton for Preston North End wonderkid Lewis Leigh

Everton, Leeds United, West Ham United, and Bayern Munich are reportedly in a transfer tussle to sign 17-year-old Belgian prodigy Nathan De Cat from Anderlecht.

According to an update by Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Everton, Leeds United, West Ham United, and Bayern Munich are interested in Nathan De Cat. Ten well-known clubs are keen on signing the Anderlecht wonderkid, and a move away from the Belgian club is on the cards for the teenage sensation.

    Who is Nathan De Cat?

Nathan De Cat is the latest promising midfielder to rise in prominence in his homeland. A native of Vilvoorde, the youngster has spent his formative years thus far in Belgium, passing through the academies at KV Mechelen and Act2Prevent Voetbalschool before graduating from the youth division at RSC Anderlecht.

The 17-year-old has already become a regular for Anderlecht, making 26 appearances thus far while chipping in with two goals and one assist. Meanwhile, De Cat’s progress and potential have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Everton, Leeds United, West Ham United, and Bayern Munich are among the prospective suitors vying for the Belgian midfielder’s signature.

    High in demand

Everton will dip into the market for a midfielder next year, as Idrissa Gueye is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the twilight of his career. Additionally, the Toffees are ready to part ways with Tim Iroegbunam in the winter transfer window. So, De Cat has emerged as a viable target for Everton.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich’s interest in Nathan De Cat is understandable. The Bavarian giants are scouring the market for a midfielder, as Leon Goretzka faces an uncertain future at the Allianz Arena. So, De Cat is an option worth considering for Bayern Munich. As for Leeds United, Daniel Farke wants more options in the middle of the park, even though the Whites signed multiple midfielders this past summer.

Several candidates, including Kobbie Mainoo, have thus emerged on Leeds United’s radar, with De Cat also a viable target. As for West Ham United, James Ward-Prowse has no future at the East London club, and Guido Rodriguez will likely depart from the London Stadium next year. So, De Cat is an option worth considering for West Ham.

Apart from these four clubs, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Brighton & Hove Albion, Bournemouth, and Ajax are also keen on signing the 17-year-old Belgian wonderkid. So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the youngster.
