West Ham have perfect cocktail for Mads Hermansen sale as star left ‘upset’ by recent exit

West Ham may have just seen the door open for them to potentially sell Mads Hermansen in the January transfer window.

The Hammers shelled out a fee of around £20million for the goalkeeper in the summer, but his performances in the early stages of the Premier League season left a lot to be desired.

Hermansen was quickly axed at West Ham by Graham Potter, after a disastrous opening to the campaign that saw them ship 11 goals in their first four league games.

Nuno Espirito Santo has since opted to persist with Alphonse Areola as his number one ‘keeper, meaning the writing could already be on the wall for the summer signing.

Mads Hermansen ‘upset’ by Casper Ankergren exit at West Ham

Hermansen has been starved of football at West Ham in recent months after his axe in E20, and that could easily see his situation come to a head in January.

    MORE WEST HAM STORIES

The Denmark international would have hoped to become number one after making the move from Leicester City in the summer, but his early-season displays have quickly put paid to that suggestion.

The Hammers will surely have one eye on selling the 25-year-old already after the struggling start that he has made, and they may have just been handed the perfect opportunity to do so.

Goalkeeping coach Casper Ankergren left West Ham at the same time as Potter’s dismissal, and the departure of his fellow countryman is understood to have left Hermansen “upset,” according to Danish outlet Campo.

The pair knew each other from their previous time together at Brondby, and the fact that the gloveman has seen his compatriot depart so quickly appears to have frustrated him somewhat.

The Hammers can play on Mads Hermansen unrest to secure sale

Hermansen was meant to address West Ham’s goalkeeping issues when he arrived in the summer, but instead, he has only succeeded in exasperating them further.

It has quickly become clear that he isn’t at the required level for the East Londoners to rely on him to keep clean sheets on a regular basis, and they will surely be keen to wash their hands of him as quickly as possible.

Now that the player himself is unhappy at the London Stadium, the E20 outfit have surely been handed the perfect cocktail to try and move him on in January.

The lure of the Premier League clearly attracted Hermansen in the summer, but the frustration that he is currently feeling could easily prove enough for him to accept the prospect of another move this winter.
