Sunderland and Newcastle United set to battle for Lazio’s Matteo Guendouzi – Get Italian Football News

Premier League outfits Sunderland and Newcastle United are set to join a transfer race for Lazio man Matteo Guendouzi.

According to a report by TMW via La Lazio Siamo Noi, Sunderland have joined the fray alongside The Magpies and Aston Villa in a bid to sign Lazio’s Guendouzi this winter. The official contact between the two clubs was confirmed in an update by Fabrizio Romano.

Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris likes the Frenchman since his days at Lorient, and he is adamant to bring him to the club in an attempt to qualify for Europe this season. Newcastle United and Aston Villa have already sent offers to the Biancocelesti for the 26-year-old midfielder.

Serie A side Roma are also in the mix to approach Lazio for the player, as Granit Xhaka might leave the club for Juventus soon. The Giallorossi sporting director, Florent Ghisolfi, remains alert to any changing scenarios in the case of Guendouzi.
