National media react as Jordan Pickford keeps another clean sheet for England vs Serbia
Jordan Pickford was in action on Thursday evening for England in their World Cup Qualifier against Serbia.
Thomas Tuchel’s Three Lions had secured qualification last month, but the German kept Pickford in his XI as he went strong at Wembley.
David Moyes will be watching the international break with his fingers crossed for no injury issues ahead of the upcoming trip to Old Trafford.
There will have been some nervous Everton fans watching when the 31-year-old went down inside the first half with an apparent injury issue.
Pickford admitted he’s dreaming about lifting the World Cup, with silverware for England his ultimate goal for the remainder of his career.
Having picked himself up from his suspected thigh concern, Pickford went on to keep yet another clean sheet for the Three Lions.

Jordan Pickford receives resounding verdict for England display
Wayne Rooney thinks Pickford is so underrated for his efforts between the sticks for both club and country.
Thursday was not one of his busier 90 minutes, with the Washington-born shot stopper not exactly having too much to face at Wembley.
The English media had a clear verdict on the Everton shot stopper as he maintained his incredible record in goal for the Three Lions.
‘Yet to concede in this campaign. Another comfortable night for England’s No1,’ wrote Jon Cross for The Mirror as he awarded Pickford a 6/10 rating.
‘Sparked a brief scare by going down with a muscle complaint in the first half but played on to keep a 10th straight clean sheet. Only really called into action in the final 10 minutes,’ said Charlie Malam for The Express.
‘Needed treatment on a thigh problem midway through the first half but looked fine afterwards. Good save from Filip Kostic, one of very few stops needed during the whole qualifying campaign,’ added The Telegraph.
Pickford wants to surpass Neville Southall’s Everton legacy, which will be a big ask, but he is certainly creating his own for England.
Jordan Pickford’s England display vs Serbia in numbers
The Everton goalkeeper has not conceded a goal for England since October 2024, which goes to show the dominance the Three Lions have enjoyed of late.
Pickford admits the Euros defeat against Italy was his biggest regret after seeing the Italians take the trophy via a penalty shootout.
There will have been no regrets for the Everton keeper on Thursday night in what was a relatively easy stint against a lacklustre Serbia.

It is becoming all too easy for Pickford between the sticks in an England shirt.
The real test will come in the summer when he is playing at the World Cup next summer against some of the world’s top teams.
