Sam Allardyce identifies London Stadium problem which could cost Graham Potter his job

Sam Allardyce knows all about what it takes to stand the test of time as West Ham manager, having been in charge between 2011 and 2015.

Allardyce had plenty of success guiding the Hammers to the Premier League in 2012 and keeping them there for the rest of his tenure.

He was in charge during the early years of David Sullivan, with the West Ham chairman now under pressure from fans to step down after multiple failures.

With Graham Potter coming under pressure at West Ham, the former Hammers boss has given his thoughts on where it is going wrong at the moment.

West Ham fans were seen leaving the London Stadium after 64 minutes against Tottenham, with Potter’s side 3-0 down.

Fans lined the streets prior to West Ham’s 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, in protest against the way that the club has been run in the last 18 months.

The decisions that have been made by the hierarchy since the sacking of David Moyes have seen them regress into a relegation-threatened side.

    • Graham Potter has a win percentage of 28% at West Ham
    • Sam Allardyce averaged wins in 38% of his games
    • David Moyes had a win percentage of 48% in his second spell with the Hammers

Speaking on talkSPORT on Monday, former Hammers boss Allardyce stressed that their bad form isn’t all Potter’s fault, but that he has to sort out one key issue.

“I think the problem for West Ham is the home form. The fact that if it doesn’t go well, it gets hostile quickly and has an affect on the players,” he said.

“That’s one of the problems that Graham has to get the players over with.”

How much longer does Graham Potter have left at West Ham?

It had been expected that Potter would be sacked following the defeat to Palace.

However, the 50-year-old still remains in his post, and as the week progresses, it is becoming more likely that he will still be in charge against Everton on 29 September.

With replacements already lined up, a crushing defeat to the Toffees could see him sacked, but a more convincing result could see him still be in the dugout against Arsenal.

While fans continue to call for Potter to be dismissed, Sullivan and co appear eager to pay as little compensation as possible to the former Chelsea boss.

Delaying his sacking will only increase the void between the Hammers hierarchy and supporters.
