Brown’s Quest for Another Gold Stunted in NCAA Final, Finishes with Bronze
In a dramatic culmination to the 2025 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Alexis Brown of Baylor University secured a bronze medal in the women’s long jump, narrowly missing out on a repeat gold performance. Her leap of 22 feet, 7.75 inches (6.90 meters) placed her third, just shy of the gold-winning mark of 22 feet, 8.25 inches (6.91 meters). Despite the slight setback, Brown’s podium finish underscored her consistent excellence and resilience.
Brown’s journey to the bronze medal was marked by her determination to overcome previous disappointments. Having finished fifth in both the indoor championships and the Olympic Trials, she channeled those experiences into motivation. “Finishing fifth indoors, fifth outdoors, fifth at the Olympic Trials, I was like, ‘I’m going to use that as motivation,'” Brown remarked after the competition. Her performance not only earned her a spot on the podium but also solidified her status as one of the premier long jumpers in collegiate history.
In addition to her individual success, Brown’s achievements were recognized at the regional level. She was named the USTFCCCA Indoor Women’s South Central Region Field Athlete of the Year, an honor that highlighted her outstanding performances throughout the season.
While Brown’s quest for gold was stunted, her bronze medal at the NCAA Championships serves as a testament to her perseverance and skill. As she continues to build on her success, the track and field community eagerly anticipates her future endeavors, confident that she will continue to inspire with her athletic prowess and unwavering determination.
