Dodgers Announce Signing of Veteran Utility Man to Minor League Deal

The Los Angeles Dodgers signed free agent Nick Senzel to a minor league deal at the beginning of the month. While the signing was reported earlier, the deal was made official on May 1, according to the team’s transaction log.

Senzel most recently played for the Washington Nationals and Chicago White Sox last season.

He was considered one of the best players available heading into the 2016 MLB Draft. Senzel was drafted as the second overall pick by the Cincinnati Reds. The utility man made his MLB debut with the Reds in 2019.

At the end of 2023, he became a free agent for the first time in his career and signed with the Nationals. Senzel was scratched from the Opening Day lineup after he sustained in broken thumb in warmups. In 64 games for Washington, he slashed .209/.303/.359 with seven home runs and 18 RBIs.

Senzel was released from the Nationals and signed with Chicago in July. In 10 games for Chicago, he went 3–for–30 and was designated for assignment soon after.

This year, Senzel was playing in Mexico, where he appeared in six games, slashing .591/.654/1.136 with an OPS of 1.790.

Now, he’ll look to provide depth at the minor league level with the hope of returning to MLB this year.
