Despite missing out on the Defensive Player of the Year award, Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green got some consolation after he was named the recipient of the NBA Hustle Award.

According to the NBA, it’s an honor given to “a player who makes the effort plays that do not often appear in the box score but help determine team success.”

Green finished the 2024-25 regular season with 9.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. More than his numbers, however, he’s considered the heart and soul of the Warriors and serves as the team’s vocal leader.

Following the announcement of his award on Friday, was quick to honor Draymond Green, adding that the Dubs forward should have won the Defensive Player of the Year award, too.

It’s not only Curry who congratulated Green, of course. But as fans and his NBA peers celebrated the Golden State veteran, one message really stood out.

Green’s wife, Hazel Renee, also made sure to show her love and admiration for her husband in a sweet congratulatory post on her Instagram Stories.

“One thing about Two things for sure. That man be out there working hard on that court!! Congratulations Love,” Renee wrote.

Green, for his part, responded to Renee and showed his appreciation for the support she has given him.

“gracias mi amor,” Green wrote, which translates to “thanks my love.”

Green and Renee have been married since 2022, although they have been together since at least 2018 when they confirmed their relationship, per People.

Now, as Green looks to help take the Warriors to another championship, Renee remains a strong presence in his life and continues to cheer for him in his NBA career.
