LA Lakers fans cannot believe star with team-high 78 regular season games has just 4 playoff minutes all series
JJ Redick’s concerns over the depth of the LA Lakers squad were taken to an extreme in Game 4.
After the LA Lakers dropped to a 3-1 series deficit against the Minnesota Timberwolves, questions are being asked about JJ Redick’s bold gamble.
In Game 4, JJ Redick made an unprecedented move, he selected the same five players for the entire third quarter and fourth quarter.
This paid dividends in the third with the Lakers going on a 36-23 run, but then in the fourth they ran out of gas with LeBron James scoring 0 points and the T-Wolves’ 32-19 comeback enough to clinch a 116-113 victory.

LA Lakers fans puzzled by no Dalton Knecht
With JJ Redick evidently unhappy with his options, fans were puzzled why Dalton Knecht was not called into the game.
Redick has played Knecht a total of four minutes in the NBA Playoffs, with his actions expressing a lack of faith in the rookie.
This is despite Redick commenting ahead of the series that Knecht was a player capable of winning ‘multiple’ playoff games for the team, with an impact from the bench.
With the Lakers clearly running on fumes in the fourth, fans on X were wondering why Knecht’s scoring ability was not used to add some energy into the offense.
“I really don’t get why Dalton Knecht can’t get on the floor,” wrote one fan.
A second called: “Give Dalton Knecht a chance we need scoring.”
One strong opinion blasted: “JJ Redick not playing Dalton Knecht cost us this series.”
Another asked: “What is JJ Redick doing why isn’t Dalton Knecht getting any minutes?”
A fifth fan wrote: “Dalton Knecht can be a game changer or at the very least someone you give a shot to. Because it feels like insanity to keep doing and running the same units and expecting different results.”
“Seriously, what do we lose if we play Dalton Knecht 10 minutes a night?” wrote another.
Dalton Knecht played most regular season games for LA Lakers
Remarkably, Dalton Knecht was the player who featured in the most regular season games of any LA Lakers player.
Knecht played 78 games, and while just 16 were as a starter, clearly there was a level of trust, averaging 19.2 minutes per game.
The next highest Laker in terms of appearances was Austin Reaves with 73, Gabe Vincent on 72 and LeBron James on 70.
In the playoffs, technically Knecht has played two games – but during these, he is averaging just two minutes per game. And he has still managed to score five points.
Would a 15 minute run for Knecht have helped the Lakers win Game 4?
Nobody will ever know – but in life you often regret the decisions you don’t take, more than the ones you do.
