Calls Mount for NBA to Suspend Rockets’ Amen Thompson After Jimmy Butler Injury

The Golden State Warriors suffered a major blow when star Jimmy Butler went down with a scary injury in Wednesday’s Game 2 against the Houston Rockets.

Now, some fans are calling on the NBA to punish Rockets forward Amen Thompson for his role in the injury.

Butler took a hard fall after Thompson collided with him during Wednesday’s opening-round playoff game. Butler had been going up for a rebound and was undercut, sending him crashing to the floor. The Warriors star, who came to the team ahead of the NBA’s trade deadline, was ruled out with a pelvis contusion.

While replays showed that Thompson was tied up with Warriors forward Draymond Green and may have been pushed into Butler, many fans still saw his play as dirty and called on the league to suspend the Rockets star.

“Amen Thompson clearly pushed Jimmy Butler,” one fan shared in a post on X. “To all the Rockets fans claiming Draymond Green was pushing — that’s just false. The replay shows Draymond intentionally holding back, making no effort to push Amen at all. Meanwhile, Amen Thompson deliberately extends both hands and pushes Jimmy legs mid-air.”

“Amen Thompson is one of the dirtiest players ever,” another fan added on X.

“Amén Thompson should be suspended,” wrote another.

There was no clarity yet on when Butler might be able to return or just how much time he could miss. The series turns back to Golden State for Game 3 on Saturday.
