How about a big-time surprise to open the week for Mark Pope and the Wildcats? Florida guard Denzel Aberdeen, coming off a national championship run in 2024-25, has committed to Kentucky.

On3’s Joe Tipton was the first to break the news.

He spent three seasons with the Gators, and now, he will be making the intraconference move to Lexington as the Wildcats look to make their own title push for banner No. 9.

“Thank you Jesus! BBN.. LETSSS DO ITTTT,” Aberdeen announced on social media.

He originally entered the transfer portal on April 18.

Aberdeen averaged 7.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 19.7 minutes per contest this past season, playing in 39 games for the Gators. In five starts at Florida, the 6-5 guard averaged 16.2 points while shooting 46.2 percent from three. Overall, the newest Wildcat shot 41.8 percent from the field, 35.0 percent from deep and 70.8 percent at the line.

A native of Orlando, the third-year guard went for seven points on 2-4 shooting with two rebounds in the national championship victory over Houston. He combined for 36 points, 11 rebounds and two assists in six NCAA Tournament games. Before that, he combined for 24 points, four assists, one rebound and one steal in three games at the SEC Tournament.
