Nico Harrison’s biggest Mavericks blunder just got obliterated on national TV

It’s safe to say, after one of the weirdest nights in Dallas Mavericks history, when they welcomed back their old superstar in Luka Doncic, that much of the city of Dallas will forever have a hard time forgiving Nico Harrison.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic dropped 45 points against the Mavericks last week, and as the fans clearly showed their displeasure with Harrison, the most shocking event was Mavs fans cheering loudly for someone in a purple and gold uniform more than their own team. This hasn’t happened before in Dallas sports history. When Alex Rodriguez won the AL MVP in 2003, Texas Rangers fans never would’ve cheered for A-Rod in a pinstripe uniform.

Now, with tensions boiling over in Doncic’s first appearance in Dallas, NBA insider Brian Windhorst’s latest rant is something that every Mavs fan can relate to, especially for what was given up for a once-in-a-generation superstar.

Windhorst calls Mavs failure to get Austin Reaves ‘malpractice’

Malpractice is just another word to describe Harrison trading away Doncic: professional negligence. The trade was only the first part of the shocking report we all saw back in February. The second part of the trade was not getting Austin Reaves in the trade. Windhorst tears into Harrison in a rant that only Mavs fans would love to reciprocate.

“The Mavericks not getting Austin Reaves in that trade is malpractice,” Windhorst said. “Austin Reaves has been awesome in this last month, especially in these last couple of weeks when LeBron hasn’t been great, and the Mavericks didn’t get Austin Reaves remains insane.”

Windhorst could’ve gone a step further by claiming that Reaves has been a focal point of the team since the 2023 NBA Playoffs. Reaves has arguably become one of the best third options in the entire NBA, so adding Reaves in the trade would’ve made up somewhat. Now, with the Lakers with Reaves, Doncic, and LeBron James, the Lakers have suddenly developed a superteam, thanks to Harrison being at the forefront of it.

Mark Cuban has admitted before that he was just as shocked as everybody else, and he wouldn’t have allowed this trade to happen at all. Even though some fans still haven’t forgiven him for how Cuban dealt with Steve Nash, he knows well enough that Doncic is a once-in-a-lifetime talent that comes around rarely.

Harrison also led the charge to get rid of Quentin Grimes, which has backfired in a more hilarious way than the Doncic trade by Grimes going for some of his best games ever in less than half a season in a Philadelphia 76ers uniform.

Windhorst expresses that every Mavs fan is thinking, and if the chants to fire Harrison weren’t enough, the national NBA media is expressing the same thoughts as every Mavs supporter out there.
