Damian Lillard’s Road to Recovery: Bucks’ Star Guard Shows ‘Significant Improvement’ Amid Uncertainty Over Return

As the Milwaukee Bucks gear up for their first-round playoff matchup against the Indiana Pacers, the status of star guard Damian Lillard remains a focal point. Lillard has been sidelined since March 18 due to a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in his right calf. The team officially disclosed the diagnosis on March 25, and since then, Lillard’s recovery process has been closely monitored.

General Manager Jon Horst provided an update, stating that Lillard’s recent medical evaluations indicate “significant improvement.” This progress has allowed the veteran guard to gradually increase his basketball activities. However, the team remains cautious and has not provided a definitive timeline for his return, emphasizing that Lillard’s health remains the top priority

Lillard’s absence is notable, especially considering his performance in the previous postseason. In last year’s first-round series against the Pacers, he averaged 31.3 points per game, showcasing his pivotal role in the team’s success. Without him, the Bucks will rely heavily on Giannis Antetokounmpo and other key players to lead the charge.

The Bucks concluded their regular season with an impressive eight-game winning streak, finishing with a 48-34 record. Their upcoming playoff series against the Pacers is set to begin on Saturday, April 19, in Indianapolis

As the team prepares for the postseason, all eyes will be on Lillard’s recovery. While his return remains uncertain, the Bucks’ medical staff and coaching team are committed to ensuring his health is prioritized, with hopes that he can contribute when fully ready.
