Anthony Edwards Has Blunt Message Ahead of Lakers-Wolves Playoff Matchup

Minnesota Timberwolves fans waited with bated breath to learn their team’s first-round playoff matchup.

The Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors battled through overtime in a game that would decide whether the Wolves would receive the No. 5 seed and face the Denver Nuggets, or the No. 6 seed and face the Los Angeles Lakers.

While Timberwolves fans were glued to their phones and TVs watching the tense moments of the overtime matchup that ended with a 124-119 Clippers win on April 13, Anthony Edwards wasn’t as concerned.

Asked in the locker room if there was a preferred matchup in the playoffs, Edwards sent a blunt message ahead of learning that his team would face the No. 3-seeded  Lakers (50-32).

“Don’t give a damn. We ready,” he told The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski after a 116-105 win over the Utah Jazz that occurred just an hour before the Clippers-Warriors finish.

The 23-year-old superstar was coming off a 43-point performance over Utah, which included 7 threes that make Edwards the end-of-season leader in 3-pointers with 320 on the season.

The Timberwolves (49-33) have won 17 of their final 21 games of the season on the efforts of Edwards and a healthy supporting cast.

In their only matchup against the Lakers since Los Angeles acquired Luka Doncic, the Timberwolves lost 111-102 on Feb. 26.
