Lakers’ JJ Redick Announces LeBron James News After Rockets Game That Lakers Clinched The Third Seed

Lakers’ JJ Redick Announces LeBron James News After Rockets Game

Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James played just 22 minutes in a 140-109 victory over the Houston Rockets on Friday. Finishing with 14 points, four rebounds and eight assists, James was effective in his limited playing time.

With the win, the Lakers clinched the third seed in the Western Conference. Their first round opponent is still undetermined, and will be revealed on Sunday. For now, the biggest concern for LA is its health entering the postseason now that the third seed has been locked up.

James appeared to suffer a groin injury in Friday’s contest, leaving the game after grimacing in pain.

Having dealt with groin issues this season, including a seven-game absence last month, James exiting this game was a major concern for Lakers fans. Fortunately, head coach JJ Redick announced the good news that his star forward is fine.

“JJ Redick says LeBron James is fine despite looking like he tweaked his left groin,” Jovan Buha of The Athletic wrote on X.

LA does not have to play James or any of its regulars in game 82 against the Portland Trail Blazers, which will allow for some additional rest before the playoffs. Each Western Conference game starts at 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, meaning LA will know its first round opponent sometime that evening once the games conclude.

If he does not play on Sunday, which is a reasonable assumption, James will finish his 22nd NBA season with averages of 24.4 points, 8.2 assists and 7.8 rebounds in 70 games.
