Warriors Make Big Announcement After Rockets Game

Despite Sunday’s forgettable loss to the Houston Rockets, fans of the Golden State Warriors still have reason to celebrate. This is after the team made an awesome announcement after its 106-96 loss to No. 2 seed Houston.

Steph Curry, who scored 125 points over the last three games, suddenly ran out of gas on Sunday. The former back-to-back MVP finished with just three points on 1-of-10 shooting as a relentless Rockets defense clamped down on the future Hall of Famer.

It just so happened, though, that the 96 points scored by Golden State against Houston upped their total tally to 471 points in four games played this week. This is the same number the Warriors used to determine how many meals they will be donating as part of their Swishes for Dishes program.

The team announced via social media that 47,100 food packs have been donated to local food banks in the Bay Area.

“The Dubs scored 471 points this week, meaning 47,100 meals were donated to families in need through our partnership with @kpnorcal and @AthletesCorner_” the Warriors posted on X.

According to the Warriors’ website, the Swishes for Dishes program has the team donating 100 meals for each point they score this season. As of writing, the site indicates that the team has scored 8,865 points thus far, amounting to 886,500 meals raised “toward preventing hunger.”

The Warriors’ big donation is in partnership with Kaiser Permanente and The Athletes’ Corner.

The donations are a go regardless of whether the Warriors win or lose, but there’s no denying that it would feel much better if they came after victories.

Curry and Co. won five straight games heading into Sunday’s matchup against the Rockets, so it was disappointing to see their streak come to an end.

Golden State, which is now in a four-way tie for the No. 5 seed in the West, will be back in action on Tuesday in a road game against the Phoenix Suns as they look to get back to winning ways.
