Ever since the Dallas Mavericks , it has not been a good month and a half for them. However, their disastrous trade deadline somehow extends beyond trading away Doncic.

The Mavericks also  to the Philadelphia 76ers. While Doncic has been his usual self with the Los Angeles Lakers, Grimes has been killing it so much for the Sixers that it makes Dallas’ moves at the deadline much worse.

StatMuse shared a statistic about Doncic, Grimes, and the Mavericks since the trade deadline that makes those trades even harder to stomach. As of March 16, Doncic has scored 339 points, Grimes has scored 318 points, and the Mavericks’ leading scorer in all of their games has scored 293 points since the trade deadline.

When the Mavericks traded Doncic, it surprised no one that he immediately made it clear how much they would regret it. Grimes also thriving in a bigger role with the Sixers only makes things worse because these two were teammates and could have done this together in Dallas.

Caleb Martin has played five games in Dallas, while Davis has played one. Davis will be scrutinized much more than Martin because he was acquired for Doncic, but there were some skeptics regarding the Grimes-for-Matin swap. Martin’s 4.6 points and 39.1% shooting in five games have done little to dispel his doubters.

When the Mavericks dealt Doncic, the common belief was that it couldn’t get worse than that. Grimes’ explosion in Philadelphia proved that wrong, and the lack of production for who Dallas got back for them is the cherry on top of what could go down as the worst trade deadline an NBA team has ever been through.
