Lakers Luka Doncic Turns Heads After Gesture to Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Brother
The Los Angeles Lakers were unable to top the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday, but it was not for a lack of effort from Luka Doncic. The Lakers superstar attempted to carry the team to victory despite LeBron James being sidelined.
Doncic found himself on a heater and had some fun at the expense of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s brother Thanasis Antetokounmpo. The Lakers star dropped 45 points and 11 rebounds during the team’s 126-106 loss to the Bucks.
TNT analyst Brian Anderson noted how Doncic was looking for Antetokounmpo’s brother after every made bucket. Antetokounmpo’s older brother previously played for the Bucks and New York Knicks.
During the second quarter, cameras caught one early moment where Doncic drained a three then stared down the superstar’s sibling who was sitting courtside.
Thanasis Antetokounmpo was then seen responding back to Doncic with a few words and a smile. Here’s a look at the funny moment between Doncic and the Antetokounmpo family member.
“Luka, every time he does something, he immediately turns to the sideline,” Anderson explained during Thursday’s TNT broadcast. “You know who he’s looking for? Thanasis.”
TNT analyst Reggie Miller concurred that Doncic was exchanging words with Antetokounmpo’s brother.
“Yes, he’s having words with Thansasis over there,” Miller said with a laugh.
Unfortunately for Doncic, Antetokounmpo and the Bucks were too much to overcome. Antetokounmpo was one assist away from posting a triple-double against the Lakers. The Bucks star posted 24 points, 12 rebounds and nine dimes in the win.
Fans reacted to Doncic’s funny exchange during the Lakers-Bucks game.
“Luka’s got no chill,” one fan noted.
“Still down 10 getting [spanked],” another added.
“About to say, no way Thanasis is in the game this early,” said one person.
“Why does every thanasis clip go viral,” a fan pondered.
