KSR Today: Previewing a busy week for BBN and lots more

March Madness is getting closer and closer. On Sunday, Kentucky Women’s Basketball celebrated its Senior Day with a top-10 opponent in Lexington, while Mark Pope’s men’s team has only two home games and two road games left on its remaining regular season schedule. Baseball and softball are also around the corner in Lexington, plus postseason high school basketball beginning in Kentucky this week.

Kentucky WBB couldn’t finish the job on Senior Day
honored its two seniors, , before hosting No. 7 LSU in Historic Memorial Coliseum on Sunday. The Wildcats were the better team for a half until Kim Mulkey’s Tigers dominated the third quarter, 23-6, to erase Kentucky’s 38-26 halftime lead. Kentucky briefly retook the lead with a late run in the fourth quarter. Still, LSU prevailed in the end to spoil the Senior Day fun, winning 65-58.
Amoore led Kentucky with 16 points and five assists in her second-to-last game in Lexington. Lawrence, who joined the 1,500-point club, scored nine, matching with 3-11 shooting from the field shot 3-10 and 1-8 from 3, part of a cold-shooting afternoon for the home team.

Kentucky dropped one place in Bracketology, still a No. 3 seed
Kentucky’s loss at Alabama had little impact on its NCAA Tournament standing. In, the loss in Tuscaloosa dropped Kentucky from the No. 11 overall seed to the No. 12 while staying on the No. 3 seed line in ESPN’s tournament projection. Lunardi’s latest has the Wildcats in the South Region.

Kentucky shouldn’t slide more than a spot or two in the AP Poll
Ranked seventeenth in the AP, Kentucky shouldn’t drop more than a spot, maybe two, when the new reacts to the win over Vanderbilt and the loss at Alabama. No. 18 Clemson may jump the Wildcats in the poll, but the teams ranked 19th (Arizona), 21st (Mississippi State), 22nd (Memphis), 23rd (Kansas), and 24th (Ole Miss) also suffered losses since last Monday.
District tournaments begin around Kentucky
Sunday marked the start of district tournaments around Kentucky for boys’ high school basketball. Tonight, 30 more games will be played around the state as the Road To Rupp begins throughout the Bluegrass. The 16 regional winners will play in the state tournament from March 26-29.
St. Xavier (Louisville) is the team to beat this year. The Tigers will again be the No. 1 team in KSR’s high school basketball rankings when the committee reveals its Week 12 Top 25 on Monday morning. before the new update is published later this morning.
