    Ex-Mets All-Star got into ‘bad accident,’ and fans are praying for him

    Former Mets catcher Paul Lo Duca shared by on social media this week that he got into a “bad accident” while traveling from the Oaklawn Hot Springs racing track in Arkansas to New York, resulting in “multiple fractures.”

    According to Lo Duca was unable to eat for a the first couple of weeks after the accident due to the fractures.

    “I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers … but I’m getting stronger!”

    Lo Duca, 52, last played in MLB in 2008. He spent the 2006 and 2007 seasons with the New York Mets and in that time hit .297 with a .739 OPS, 14 home runs and 103 RBI.

    Lo Duca was an All-Star selection four times, including once with the Mets in 2006. In his All-Star season in New York, he hit .318 with a .783 OPS and the Mets won the NL East.

    In his 11-year career, Lo Duca also played for the Dodgers, Marlins and Nationals.

    Lo Duca now works as a horse racing analyst for the New York Racing Association.
