Former Tennessee Vols guard Dalton Knecht hints that he’ll participate in iconic NBA event in 2026

Los Angeles Lakers rookie guard Dalton Knecht, a former Tennessee Vols star, hinted on Sunday night that he plans to participate (if invited) in an iconic NBA event in 2026.
Knecht, who played in the All-Star game on Sunday night as a member of the Rising Stars team, was asked by reporters why he didn’t take part in the three-point contest during All-Star weekend.
The former Vol has hit 80 three-pointers in his first 49 games in the NBA.
“I didn’t get invited,” said Knecht when asked why he didn’t participate in the three-point contest this past weekend.
Knecht then hinted that he may take part in the three-point contest in 2026 when the NBA All-Star game is set to take place in Los Angeles.
“Next year in LA,” added Knecht.
It’s uncertain if Knecht will still be on the Lakers’ roster next season. Los Angeles attempted to trade Knecht to the Charlotte Hornets earlier this month, but the deal was rescinded due to concerns over Hornets center Mark Williams’ health.
The Lakers have several roster decisions to make this offseason. Knecht is a valuable player for the Lakers, but it’s not out of the question that he could be dealt this offseason as the Lakers look to address some of the weaknesses on their roster.
But if Knecht sticks around with the Lakers it would certainly be a perfect scenario for him to take part in the three-point contest in Los Angeles a year from now.
