Good morning, Big Blue Nation, and Happy Presidents’ Day. Today, KSR’s morning radio show will celebrate George Washington’s birthday with a day off. However, KentuckySportsRadio.com never stops, so I’m here with yet another Monday morning rundown to lead off the week before a long day of new content on your favorite website about UK Athletics.
Before we get to the UK matters, I’ll share my thoughts on Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game: I watched about 10 minutes of it because it continues to be a bore each year. (though.) I found that Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary special was much more entertaining, plus the Season 3 premiere of “White Lotus” on HBO, and I am officially addicted to “Paradise,”

Kentucky WBB swept Georgia with a 29-point win
returned to its winning ways on Sunday, beating Georgia by nearly 30 points in Historic Memorial Coliseum. Georgia Amoore also returned to form with her team-high 21 points and game-high seven assists in the 84-55 win.
Four other Wildcats–Dazia Lawrence (15), Amelia Hassett (14), Clara Strack (14), and Teonni Key (14)–joined Amoore’s in double-figure scoring as the Cats shot 48.3% from the field and 47.8% from 3 in the bounce-back win against the Dawgs.

We’ll hear from Mark Pope tonight
doesn’t play until Wednesday this week. However, Mark Pope will still fulfill his Monday evening duties on his call-in radio show. Pope and Tom Leach will talk to the Big Blue Nation from 6-7 p.m. on the UK Sports Network, with Pope’s autopsy of the loss at Texas and a preview of Wednesday’s game versus Vanderbilt. We’ll let you know the most significant things Pope says if you’re unable to listen live.
Andrew Carr and Travis Perry preview Vandy tomorrow
Tomorrow, Andrew Carr and Travis Perry will look ahead to Kentucky’s return to Rupp Arena with conversations previewing Wednesday’s game versus Vanderbilt. The former Mustache Brothers will also share what they thought went wrong in Austin and what’s ahead for the rest of the year. KSR will share those discussions on Tuesday afternoon.
Kentucky likely to drop in the new AP Top 25
After suffering another loss over the weekend, Kentucky (17-8, 6-6) will fall a little further in this week’s when it is released Monday afternoon. Ranked No. 15 right now, the Wildcats will slide in the rankings, likely to somewhere in the neighborhood of No. 18-21.

The Wildcats are on track for a No. 8 seed in Nashville
KSR’s Adam Luckett spent part of his Sunday afternoon projecting the SEC Tournament bracket. He found that if the tournament started today, playing the 9/16 winner in the first game on Thursday.

Week 10 update to KSR’s H.S. Boys’ Basketball Top 25
(Louisville) continues to dominate high school basketball in Kentucky, so expect the Tigers to hold down that No. 1 spot when KSR’s committee releases the Week 11 rankings for boys’ high school basketball in the Bluegrass. before the new update is published later this morning.
Opening Day for Kentucky Baseball will be cold
opens Kentucky Proud Park with a 4 p.m. game against Morehead State tomorrow. The forecast calls for frigid temperatures, likely below 30 degrees, when the Wildcats welcome the Eagles to Lexington for February baseball.
Kentucky split its weekend series with Lipscomb after going 1-1 in Friday’s doubleheader in Nashville. Sunday’s Game 3 was canceled due to weather.
