New Mark Cuban Report After Luka Doncic to Lakers Trade
The Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks have dominated NBA headlines since their blockbuster Luka Doncic trade. Doncic has played two games for the Lakers, averaging 15.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists in 23.5 minutes per game.
As for , who landed in Dallas as part of the Doncic trade, the 10-time NBA All-Star is already sidelined with an injury. Tallying 26 points and 16 rebounds in his Mavericks debut, Davis re-aggravated his abdomen injury and could miss a month
In Dallas, prominent organization members have been catching heat from fans. General manager Nico Harrison has been at the center of this vitriol, but former majority owner Mark Cuban has not been exempt from it, even if its misguided.

Cuban sold his majority stake in the Mavericks in Dec. 2023, forgoing the level of influence that could have stopped the Doncic trade. In a new report on this dynamic, ESPN’s Tim MacMahon revealed Cuban was not informed of the deal until minutes before it happened.
“Cuban had zero power, the heads up it was literally a matter of minutes this trade was happening,” MacMahon said on The Hoop Collective podcast. “There’s a 0% chance that it would’ve ever happened under Cuban’s watch, but I call him the world’s richest mascot for a reason, because he doesn’t have any juice in the organization anymore. He gave that up hoping to cling onto it.”
While advanced notice of the trade would not have given Cuban the ability to stop it, his lack of knowledge is still surprising when considering his 23-year run as majority owner.
