Another loss to Kentucky for the Vols.

Tennessee basketball could not get revenge on Kentucky after losing its first rivalry matchup of the season. The Vols shot themselves into a loss on Tuesday night with terrible three-point shooting in a 64-75 loss to the Wildcats.

While Tennessee couldn’t make a shot behind the three-point line, Kentucky made every shot that mattered down the stretch, including a pair of threes late in the second half.

This loss is yet another trend for Tennessee this season. Whether it be the Vols or Lady Vols, Tennessee basketball has struggled to finish in these types of games.

Tennessee shot 3-for-18 from three-point range, which hasn’t been too common for this year’s team. Previous Rick Barnes teams have struggled with three-point shooting, but it hasn’t been as common this year.

The only Tennessee player to make a three-point shot was Igor Milicic Jr. He shot three-for-four from three-point range while everyone else failed to make a shot from deep all game.

Tennessee has been inconsistent throughout conference play, which isn’t surprising given its gauntlet schedule.

The Vols’ defense wasn’t great either. They committed many fouls throughout the night, especially late, which helped Kentucky pull away in the final few minutes.

The SEC is the deepest and most talented conference in America this year, and the Vols’ schedule shows how difficult it is to win in the SEC, especially on the road.

Tennessee has six games remaining on the schedule, including three ranked matchups. The Vols will host in-state rival Vanderbilt, looking to get back on track on both ends of the court.
