Jaylen Brown Offers Reaction To Reported Celtics Addition
BOSTON — Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens didn’t wait long after the trade deadline to make a free-agent addition to Boston’s roster.
ESPN’s Shams Charania just before halftime of to the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday that the Celtics agreed to a deal with veteran wing Torrey Craig.
And while the news of the Celtics reportedly bringing Craig aboard circulated on social media, it didn’t get to Jaylen Brown until he fielded questions from reporters following the 127-120 defeat to the Mavericks.
“That is news to me. We signed Torrey Craig?” Brown said.
The Celtics needed to add to their roster after , who Brown called his “little bro,” to the Houston Rockets left them a player short of the league minimum. Craig, a veteran of eight NBA seasons, was available after the Chicago Bulls waived him earlier this week to complete their deal in which Zach LaVine went to the Sacramento Kings.

Craig, 34, has bounced around the league as the Celtics will be his sixth team — he has played for the Denver Nuggets, Milwaukee Bucks, Phoenix Suns, Indiana Pacers and Bulls since entering the league in 2017.
Craig has only averaged 6.0 points in his career but has made tremendous strides with long-range shots. He is shooting 39.7% from beyond the arc on 3.1 attempts per game over the last two-plus seasons. Injuries limited the 6-foot-7, 221-pound forward to just nine games with the Bulls this season as he hasn’t played since Dec. 30.
It’s unclear when Craig would take the floor with the Celtics, but Brown applauded Stevens for trying to make an impactful addition to improve the team.
“Obviously, the front office is always trying to make some moves to make sure that we are putting ourselves in a good position,” Brown said. “So, I trust that.”
